Oil on paper on panel
The passing of time and the making of marks are ever-present preoccupations in my work. In the fields I am aware of the ploughing, sowing and harvesting, the constantly changing patterns, textures and colours finding counterpoint in the sky.
The paintings themselves record the passing of other time, the time it takes to make a mark, to build up a texture and a pictorial structure, using the rich physical surface of the paint to recreate and to simultaneously negate the illusion of space and light and time.
